RELEASE OF THE ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE

 

 

Alaska Adoption Law

Obtaining Non-Identifying Information:

Non-identifying information is available to adoptive parents and adopted adults age 18 or older.

Obtaining Identifying Information:

Identifying information along with an original birth certificate and any changes in birth parents' names or addresses will be provided upon request to adopted adults age 18 or older. Birth parents may receive identifying information if the adopted adult is 18 or older and has made a written request for the disclosure of the information.

Providing Information:

Adopted adults age 18 or older or birth parents may submit a change of name or address to be attached to the original birth certificate.

Obtaining an Original Birth Certificate:

Birth certificates are available upon request to adopted adults 18 years or older.
